Description of High purity 99.5% Lithium Bromide CAS:7550-35-8
White crystals with a slightly bitter taste. Hygroscopic. Loses one molecule of water of crystallization at 44°C and becomes anhydrous at 160°C. Easily soluble in water, soluble in ethanol. Its aqueous solution is neutral or slightly alkaline to litmus paper. Hot concentrated solutions can dissolve cellulose.

Widely used in the refrigeration industry as an absorption refrigerant, and in the organic industry as a hydrogen chloride scavenger and organic fiber swelling agent. Used in medicine as a hypnotic and sedative. Employed in the battery industry as an electrolyte for high-energy batteries and micro-batteries. Also used in the photographic industry and in analytical chemistry. Can also serve as a pharmaceutical intermediate.
